I woke up with my boner poking her in the ass.

“I know, man, I know,” I muttered to myself. My dick was ready to go, but he was going to have to calm the hell down – I had a plan to surprise Blake and I wasn’t going to fuck it up by letting my hormones take the wheel.

Sensing I was awake, she stirred, before rolling over and yawning. “Happy New Year’s Eve,” I greeted her.

“That’s not a thing,” she replied sleepily.

“Don’t care.”

“Well you should.”

“You going to make me care, blondie?”

Little did she know, she’d already made me care, not about talking shit, but about her, about everything… about things I’d never even considered before she came along.

“Maybe I will,” she replied half-heartedly around another yawn.

“Go back to sleep.” I kissed her forehead. “I’ve got a few things to organise anyway.”

She blinked a few times, already looking like she could drift off again. “You sure? I feel bad.”

I chuckled. She was a liar, and not a very good one.

“I’m sure, get some sleep.”

Her eyes drifted closed and I sat there, watching her sleep for a few minutes before sliding out of bed, coaching my dick to relax the whole time.

“Your time will come, buddy,” I muttered, “have a little faith.”

I showered, dressed and went in search of food.

Chance was in the kitchen, blending something obnoxiously loud given the reasonably early hour. “Mate! Morning, I was wondering when you were going to drag your ass out of bed.”

Knowing Chance and his never-ending energy, he’d probably landscaped a garden already this morning, or sheared a sheep or some shit.

If I was full of energy, then he was a fully charged, megawatt battery – always ready to go and up for just about anything.

He poured two glasses of some type of smoothie and handed me one.

“It’s only nine.”

“Day started three hours ago.”

I wasn’t sure if I’d been living the cruisy life of travelling too long, or if he was not quite right in the head, but as far as I was concerned, six was not morning.

“Where’s your crotch spawn? I’ve got a bone to pick with CJ. The little shit put soap on my toothbrush last night.”

That was a not so pleasant surprise before I went to bed last night.

Chance laughed loudly. “I did warn you not to teach him our old tricks.”

“I might repay him with a short-sheeted bed. Is he up yet?”

“Aubrey’s already taken them to our sitter – they’re friends of ours with kids the same age. The kids have been hounding to get going all morning. They’re staying the night. First New Year’s Eve since we became parents that we might actually make it to midnight.”

“How times have changed.”
