Chapter Seventeen

Omari stood at the end of the hall and looked at his watch. He had ten minutes before he was supposed to pick her up. After dropping Lyric off at her room this afternoon he tracked down Jamie so that he could get in touch with Ericka. After hooking up with her downstairs in the bar, they went from store to store until he had everything he needed to make this a night to remember for Lyric.

A night to remember. Omari felt the pressure that those four words caused. It had been two years since Lyric had known a man's touch. And Omari was determined not to disappoint her in any way. He also didn't want to push her into something that she might not be ready for. So depending on how the night went, Omari had devised several plans in his mind. He had no doubt that one of them would be just right.

Checking his watch again, he turned to check out his reflection in the elevator doors. He had decided to wear grey slacks, a baby blue button down, and dress shoes with a high shine on them. The only accessory he wore was a platinum watch on his left wrist. Satisfied, he turned away and strolled down the hall to Lyric's door. Raising his arm he knocked twice--and Ericka opened the door with a smile.

"Wow!" She said. "Don't you look yummy!"

Omari chuckled. "Thank you much. Is she ready?"

"She is," Ericka confirmed. After calling Lyric she turned back to Omari. "And since you are here I shall take my leave. I got a hot date," she said smiling.

"I know. I heard about it. You two have fun," Omari said. "And thank you for all your help today."

Ericka paused. "You're welcome. You just make sure you don't hurt my friend. Otherwise, you deal with me," she warned.

"You have my promise. Hurting her is the last thing on my mind."

Ericka nodded and then kissed his cheek. "Have fun."

Omari watched her disappear down the hall into her room before turning back to the door. When he saw Lyric standing there, his heart seemed to stop for the smallest instant and then started to pound with a ferocity he had never experienced.

As soon as he laid eyes on that dress in the store, he knew that it would look fantastic on Lyric, but the vision in his head did not do her justice. She was breathtaking. Omari looked her up and down; admiring the way the material contoured perfectly to her thick body and fell right above her knee. The dress had a deep V that showed off the soft swell of her ample breasts. His eyes traveled down as he observed the way the material hugged the curvaceous roundness of her full hips.

"You look...you look exquisite," Omari breathed.

Lyric blushed. "Thank you. You look pretty great yourself."

He smiled. "Thank you. Are you ready to go?"

Lyric nodded coming closer. "Yeah. But first I want to thank you for everything--the dress, the shoes, and dinner.
