Australian of the Year finalist and transgender military officer Catherine McGregor … told the prominent gay and lesbian magazine the Star Observer that the National Australia Day Council board did “not have the courage to go with an LGBTI person”. “I thought it was time … It was a weak and conventional choice,” she said. “I think I’ll die without seeing a trans Australian of the Year and I think that’s terribly sad.” (Wroe, 2016).

One of the clearest indications that transsexual men remain men whatever they do to their bodies and however they dress, is their sense of entitlement, the demands they make on society in general and women in particular. In pursuit of what they feel they are entitled to, they take their claims into the law courts, demand inclusion into women’s spaces, abuse and censor those who do not agree with them, and make sexual demands of the lesbians whose ranks they insist they have joined. They have also introduced new terminology designed to show how oppressed they are and to express contempt for those who refuse to see the world their way.
