Chapter 6

Andre

The minute we landed back in Jersey, Chris and me hopped in a cab and got dropped off in front of my house. When we stepped in, we walked straight to the basement. I had left over beats I wanted Chris to hear before I presented them to T-Bars for this mixtape. Chris was too busy looking around the basement and going down memory lane.

“Damn, you ain’t change nothing in here bruh.”

“Nope, nothing at all. Truthfully since I had been back in Jersey I only been down here maybe twice. I try to stay out of this damn basement man. Brings back too many memories.”

“Yeah, I hear that.” I finally found the case of beat cd’s I had stashed and popped them in for Chris to hear. The nigga’s head damn near popped off his shoulders.

“Nigga when you make these beats?”

“I had these joints stashed for a minute. Most of them were made in Atlanta when we first came out there. I think I’m going to pass this whole beat cd to T-Bars to see what he come up with.”

“That little rapping ass nigga going to come up with a classic. He already in the studio with Meek making his double album, so if you get him in here while he still focused he going to tear every last one of these joints the fuck down. I’ll call him now and see where he at.”

“Nah, we’ll get to him later. We got to get to the club, I got to meet up with Dolla real quick.” We got to the club to see that shit was jumping like no other night. I don’t know how much money he had to pull out his pocket to pay this dude but I spotted DJ Khaled in the booth killing shit. I spotted Dolla at the bar and approached him.

“Wassup niggas. I see y’all done kissed and made up huh?”

“Man fuck all that. Let’s go to the office real quick and talk about some business.” Dolla told two of his bartending girls to watch the bar and he led us to his back office by the kitchen. He sat in his king size leather chair behind this big ass desk and lit a black n’ mild before he talked.

“What’s going on with y’all niggas?”

“You tell me cousin. Wassup with this case man?”

“Man I don’t know what the fuck going on with your pops. This nigga turned into a real live rat cousin on some real shit. He told the cops that the club is just a front and that we make our real money in a room where we allow drug fiends to come cop and smoke their preferred drug of choice.” Chris and me shot a look at each other and just let Dolla keep talking. “Man, don’t look at each other like that. I know the shit was true aight. But, this nigga acting like he never was on the block like my pop or me. Shit my pop’s is the reason why your pops used to make all the fucking money he made back in the day.
