After another fifteen minutes of being pitched and jostled like a passenger on a stand-up roller coaster moving in slo mo, the bus comes to a stop at 179th and Hillside. Like crabs in a barrel, the passengers push and shove their way off. I squeeze my way out, only to look up and see five other buses depositing similarly thick droves of people, all of whom converge at the stairways leading down into the subway. I take a deep breath and dive right in. Maybe Nick is right. I might have to start driving. I don’t know if I can handle a commute like this every day.
