DAMASK ROSE POTPOURRI

For this much richer blend of rose potpourri consult the catalogs listed in the back of this booklet, and invest in many ingredients and oils. Everything left over from this recipe will find a place in others.

4 cups damask rose petals, dried

2 cups lavender flowers

½ cup rosemary

½ cup vetiver root, cut

½ cup oakmoss

¼ cup patchouli leaves

1 cup orris root

20 drops each rose, rose-geranium, lavender, and bergamot oil

40 drops lemon oil

⅛ ounce each musk and ambergris oil

½ cup whole allspice

½ cup Ceylon cinnamon

¼ cup cloves

Combine all the botanicals in a gallon jar. Crack the whole spices and add. Place the orris root on the surface and add each of the oils, stirring well after each addition. Make sure the contents are well mixed. Age for three weeks and enjoy a rich scent that will last almost forever.
