making it all practical - what does this mean for my daily life?

If you know what you want out of life, but you don’t know the important steps you need to take in your business to get there, then you are shooting in the dark. We want to make sure that every day going forward counts toward getting you to your Bermuda. Remember, we have to figure out how to make the Priority of the Important as urgent as the Tyranny of the Urgent.

determining your ideal lifestyle

Once you’ve got a good first pass on your Lifetime Goals statement, you can now begin to figure out the Ideal Lifestyle you would want to live out those Lifetime Goals. The Ideal Lifestyle is the tangible assets that support your values-driven Lifetime Goals; the time, money, energy and property you will use to get you there.

For example, if you want to ski 12 months of the year, your Ideal Lifestyle probably wouldn’t include a beach house, but might include a condo in Colorado and another at a ski resort in Australia. If you want to help kids in Kenya, you probably don’t need a big house in Montana.

Jayleen Proxmire came into the Lifetime Goals workshop believing that her Ideal Lifestyle was a big house absolutely crammed with antiques. And since we are usually living out most of our Lifetime Goals by our 20s, she was nearly there in her early 50s. When it came time to share her Lifetime Goals, it included “having an ongoing significant impact in the lives of my grandchildren for decades to come.”

After she shared that, she then told the group, “But the funny thing is I have trouble getting my kids to bring my grandkids to my house.” Everyone in the room looked at each other and wondered who would say it first. Someone finally piped up, “It could have something to do with your antiques.” She left the workshop with an overhauled view of her Ideal Lifestyle—she was going to sell her house and buy one on a lake to create an environment where her kids would feel comfortable bringing their kids to Nana’s house. And she was going to have one room she could lock for her antiques.
