Dear Readers:

I do not know if you have heard of Charlie “T” Jones or read his book Life is Tremendous, but if not you need to get on the success beam and order one right away. Charlie’s life, lectures, and his many publications have profoundly influenced those lucky enough to have crossed his path. Charlie’s focus never waivers. When I phoned him last week to thank him for positive comments that he made on something I had written, the focus of the phone call was not on Charlie’s health, but on how much he enjoyed what I had written.

This simple phone call encapsulated for me the life of a man who made his work his ministry. Known for his big bear hugs, Charlie will run through the pearly gates embracing God in the biggest hug ever when his time comes. How do I know this? I know it because I have been the recipient of Charlie’s big hugs and even God could not refuse one from him accompanied with the unconditional love he offers. Charlie changes lives by hugs! Even now, I can feel the warmth of his hug and his accompanying positive messages.

Napoleon Hill states: “No man can be truly happy until he translates the words of the Golden Rule into deeds, and shares happiness with others.” Charlie is a living example of this mandate for success. Humor is the vehicle for Charlie’s Christian message. After attending a breakfast talk a few years ago, my husband stated that Charlie was the best speaker that he ever heard. Not only did he believe it, but he echoed the sentiment of well over 400 people in the audience. It was a packed house and there was not a dry eye due to so much laughing. Yes, humor and hugs are two of Charlie’s trademarks.

Charlie’s third trademark is his honesty. His hugs and humor all enable him to touch someone’s spirit. And when he has opened the door of a person’s spiritual side, he is able to sneak in and give honest, personalized advice that hits home every time because it does not involve criticism but rather praise. Charlie has the unique ability of causing a person to look within themselves and reflect upon what they can give to others.

Finally, Charlie’s fourth trademark is home. I have visited his house on two occasions and both times I have left astounded as to the gifts that he gives to his hometown community. Charlie has a Christmas room set up year round that entertains young people that are in need of a little tender loving care. He has several libraries, one in particular being a library of books that are biographical. He loves reading biographies because they teach him lessons that he can use in his own life. When he speaks in person, he persuades people to read by passionately kissing books.
