Chapter 14

Kyra sat at her Italian marble dining room table, sulking in her thoughts as she sipped on a glass of Moet Rose’. It had been a year and ten months since Notorious’ disappearance and life was starting to become real. Bills were steady coming and money was beginning to dwindle away. She wasn’t broke, but if she didn’t downsize quickly, she surely would be. She decided she would spend the next couple of weeks looking for a new place. Over the months, she slowly but surely cut all ties with Carmen and Whack. Shit just wasn’t the same between them anymore, and it bothered her that they went on about their lives so quickly. The kids were still thick as thieves though; they didn’t go a day without seeing each other. Baby Shad had his license and he made sure to visit every day. Other than that, it was Kyra and her girls against the world.

The detective had yet to find Notorious’ body, although they did confirm that the blood from his car was his. Kyra felt deep in her heart that her husband was dead, so after the DNA confirmation of his blood, she and the girls had a small memorial of their own in remembrance of him. It was still hard for Kyra emotionally, but she had to be strong for her girls because they were still taking it very hard.

Kayla still had crying spells throughout the nights and Keyla had just become angry. She had been suspended from school three times for fighting and insubordination. The only reason the principal hadn’t expelled her yet was because she had always been a great student up until her father’s passing, so he felt bad for her.

Kyra gulped down the last sip of champagne she had in her glass and got up from the table. She walked to the kitchen and placed her glass in the sink. She looked at the stove clock and it was fifteen minutes before noon. The girls were at school, so she figured she’d get dressed and hit the pavement to find them a smaller place. She headed up her huge swiveled staircase to her master bedroom and into her bathroom. She grabbed her a bath and face towel from the towel rack and then turned on the shower, so it could heat up. After stripping out of her Mikey Mouse boy short and tank pajama set, she hopped in. Letting the steamy water shoot all over her body from every angle, she began to lather her pink poof with Olay Shea Butter body wash. She washed her body thoroughly and rinsed. She then grabbed her white wash cloth and lathered it with Eucerin Aquaphor baby wash and proceeded to wash her kitty. After rinsing and repeating the method a second time, she turned off the shower, stepped out, and dried her body. Wrapping and tucking the towel around her body, she then stood at the face bowl and began to wash her face with Olay Total Effects citrus scrub facial cleanser.
