Epilogue

“DAMN, I THOUGHT THEY’D never leave,” Wade muttered as he watched the guests vacate the driveway.

Laura smiled in amusement as the last of her family, and his enormous family drove away. It had been a hectic week of hasty wedding arrangements and phone-call invitations. Laura knew Wade was exceptionally pleased that Cousin Gage had arrived minutes before the ceremony—although the long-lost cousin could only spare a few hours to visit with his relatives before he flew off as quickly and mysteriously as he’d come. No one offered details about Gage’s present occupation, but the moment he walked through the door of the church that had been filled to capacity she knew her prediction that all four Ryder cousins were drop-dead handsome was right on the mark. The groom and his three best men were definitely a sight to behold.

Wade expelled an audible sigh of relief. “I haven’t had you all to myself for a week. We couldn’t even sneak off without a damn chaperone tailing us. How’d you tolerate growing up with constant surveillance?”

Laura shrugged then smiled wryly at her new husband. “I thought you might have appreciated the time you spent without me while my brothers were underfoot. There was a time when you couldn’t run fast enough or far enough to avoid me.”

“But now that I have that blasted cast off, I’ll be doing considerable chasing.” He waggled his brows suggestively. “We’ll see who’s running scared now.”

“You don’t frighten me, you big phony,” she said. “Despite all that growling I tolerated when I first arrived I’ve discovered that you’re just a marshmallow on the inside.”

Wade drew her gently into his arms and smiled down at her with so much love and affection that Laura could scarcely breathe. She still couldn’t believe that he belonged to her and she belonged to him forever and ever.

They’d both changed considerably since they’d first met. She’d learned to take control of her own life, to stand up for herself. Wade had learned to trust, to believe in the power and magic of this love that had blossomed between them.

“Where do you want to go on our honeymoon?” he murmured as his lips skimmed that sensitive point beneath her ear. “Name the place, sweetheart. I’ll make the arrangements.”

Laura looped her arms around his neck and nestled familiarly against him. “I’m already in paradise. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be as long as I’m with you.”

“Yeah?”

“Oh, yeah, definitely. We can take a honeymoon during Christmas break. But right now I just want to take my final exam in my Sexual Fantasies 101 class that had to be postponed when my brothers showed up to breathe down my neck.”

Wade scooped her up in his arms and headed down the hall, thankful that hampering cast was gone. He intended to take up where they’d left off—before the inconvenient intrusion.

When he laid Laura on their bed, she came to her knees to help him doff his shirt and slacks. Then she proved to him that she could be an exceptionally inventive seductress.
