You can only rarely get a delicate Shiroi Kobito cookie outside Hokkaido, which makes them a sought-after souvenir, packaged in blue-and-white boxes featuring Mount Rishiri. It helps that the cookies themselves – dainty sandwiches of langue du chat wafers and white chocolate – are delectable. Indulge in Shiroi Kobito and other chocolate delicacies from the Ishiya company at this sweet little Sapporo theme park. It’s meant to look European, which means half-timbered Tyrolean chalets next to Victorian brick clock towers. Watch cookies being made in the factory or sign up to make your own at the Cookiecraft Studio. Then dig into chocolate fondue and Shiroi Kobito parfaits at the cafe. Kids love the pony rides and the miniature steam train (and the chocolate, too).
