If you've spent any time travelling in provincial Australian towns, you'll know the RSL (Returned Services League) clubs are a good deal. There's nothing pretentious here – the atmosphere's very casual and good for families (save for the constant hum of pokies). The food is similarly no-frills excellent, covering great burger choices, pasta, steak and seafood.

This casual, licensed restaurant features fresh fish, Moreton Bay bugs, lobster, oysters, even crocodile, as well as succulent steaks. It's all about the location, perched right at the end of Stokes Hill Wharf with sunset views over Frances Bay. The cold beer and a first-rate wine list seal the deal.
