Dalton

“The captain has informed us there are no ships within camera range. You are free to enjoy the rest of your day, Your Highness,” the casually dressed bodyguard informs me as Elodie and I sit by the pool.

I can sense she’s been worrying about being photographed again. Personally, I’m still in shock that I finally stood up to my father.

“Thank you. As per my directions to Mr. Hinchbottom, Miss Nash and I are not be disturbed.” I dismiss the guard and return my attention to Elodie.

“Does that make you feel a bit better? There are people looking out for us. I promise.”

“It does. It was all a bit of a shock, and the way you spoke to your father…will he be outraged?” Elodie nervously nibbles on the end of one of her fingers.

“Probably, but at the moment, I really don’t care. What my father said about you was wrong. You’re perfect for me because you help me to understand myself. Now, I want to forget about them all for the rest of the day. We’re here to get to know each other better. But first…” I stand up and pull my t-shirt over my head. I’d changed into my swimwear while we were waiting for confirmation from the captain regarding the boat's security. “I’m going for that swim. Are you going to join me?”

“I couldn’t think of anything better,” Elodie responds, and standing up, she removes her sarong from around her waist. I can’t stop the sigh of lust that leaves my lips.

Elodie looks up at me and blushes. “Stop it,” she admonishes as she comes over to me, and placing her hand on my chest, she pushes with all her might. She’s strong, and I fall backward into the pool. The water gushes over my face, and I swim to the surface. Elodie is stood there watching. “You needed to cool off.” She laughs.

“Did I now?” I haul myself out of the pool and grab Elodie in my arms. She squirms and screams, but I’ve got her held tight as I jump back into the refreshing water. It’s midday, and the sun is at its strongest.

Elodie and I both surface simultaneously, and she splashes water at me before swimming off. The pool isn’t big. No more than fifteen foot, but it’s enough for us to spend the next twenty minutes chasing each other around.

“I surrender.” Elodie eventually holds her hands up in the air as I try to dunk her for the fiftieth time.

“Good.” I swim closer to her and pin her to the side of the pool. “You have no chance of winning anyway.”

“I have a good mind to keep going because of that comment.”

“You wouldn’t.” I press my body into hers and bend down to kiss her.

“What is your prize for winning then?” Elodie rolls her eyes at me.

“A truth?” I respond, knowing this is another way of us getting to know each other.

“About what?”

“You. I want you to tell me one thing you’ve never told anyone else.
