Imaging Findings

CRX film shows cavitary lesion with alveolar infiltration and loss of volume in the left lung (Fig. 5.3.1). CT scan (lung window) shows cavitary lesion with alveolar infiltration and loss of volume in upper and lower left lobe (Figs. 5.3.2, 5.3.3, and 5.3.4).

Case 4: The Golden S Sign (Right Upper Lobe Collapse)

A 59-year-old man, a smoker of 1 pack/day, went to the emergency due to an increase in the usual dyspnea, hemoptysis, chest pain, and weight loss. At bronchoscopy, there were neoplastic infiltration and obstruction of 100 % of the lumen of the bronchus of the RUL. Histopathological findings were consistent with adenocarcinoma.
