4.3.2 Form-Finding Method for Slack Cable Net
The form-finding process for a cable-net structure aims to determine the equilibrium state after the boundary conditions, loads and original lengths are established. In other words, it is a procedure to obtain the coordinates of the free nodes and in the equilibrium state and the corresponding tension distribution of the cable net when the coordinates of the fixed nodes , , and are known as shown in Fig. 4.7. For the arbitrary free node c at equilibrium, the resultant force should be zero:
