ON A SUNDAY NIGHT IN July of 1995, Cream and I got dressed in his house in Astoria and then we jumped in his Jeep and headed to pick up Spinach. I was dressed like a diva in order to disguise the hit that we had planned. We had simply told both Spinach and Shamgod that we would all be going to a club in Manhattan to party.

As Cream drove, I sat in the passenger seat. I also had a .45-caliber handgun in my Louis Vuitton handbag.

“You ready to do this?” Cream asked.

I didn’t even look at him. I just nodded my head up and down a few times.

“Remember, when Spinach gets in the car just play everything cool.”

I didn’t respond because I already knew all of what Cream was telling me.

We reached Spinach’s block, and let the Jeep sit idle in front of his crib while Cream called him on the cell phone and told him that we were ready.

Spinach reached the car and hopped in the backseat. “What’s up, Lady?” he asked while reaching forward and giving me a kiss on the cheek. “Cream, what up, fam?” he stated as he reached forward and gave him a pound.

Cream adjusted the radio station and just at that moment, DJ Funkmaster Flex’s voice came on. He was promoting a party where he would be deejaying on that particular night at a club in Manhattan.

“Yo, that’s where we’re going,” I turned and told Spinach.

Spinach just quietly nodded his head to the music that had followed Funkmaster Flex’s promotional message.

It was quiet for a moment and then Spinach asked, “Cream, you got a burner?”

I was wondering why he had asked that question but I didn’t sweat it too much.

“Yeah, it’s inside the door paneling.... Why?”

“I ain’t bring no heat, so just in case something jumps off at the club I wanna know what’s what.”

It was good to know that Spinach was not strapped ’cause it eliminated the chances of him reacting the wrong way to the hit that was about to go down.

Spinach didn’t live too far from Shamgod so before I knew it we were rolling up to his crib.

“Yo, Shamgod, we outside,” Cream spoke into his cell phone.

After about five minutes Shamgod appeared. My heart had been racing and thumping from the moment Spinach had gotten into the car and when I saw Shamgod my heart rate really began to increase. I calmly blew out a little bit of air from my lungs. I knew that I couldn’t front on the hit that I had to do. For some reason when I had gone over the plot again and again in my head I had never been able to predict and prepare for how nervous I would be.

Shamgod was just about at the car when I opened my door and got out.

“Hey, baby,” I stated as I reached for Shamgod’s hand. After making contact with his hand I stood on my tippy toes in order to give him a kiss on the cheek.
