CHAPTER 6

BABY BLANKET

This one is a little big thing to make, but the easy knitting pattern is easy to follow. You will just need some more time to finish this as compared to the smaller dish cloths.

How to make the baby blanket:

You will need the sunshine yellow soft yarn and 6.5 mm knitting needle to make this blanket. You can also use the 24 inch or 32 inch circular needles if you are comfortable to work with them.

Important note:

This blanket is actually made with the knit and purl pattern that creates the chevron. You can use markers between the pattern repeats and between the edges to help you to keep the pattern straight.

How to make the chevron stitch pattern:

Row 1 (right side): Purl 4, knit 4.

Row 2 (wrong side): Purl 4, knit 4.

Row 3 (right side): Knit 1, purl 4, knit 3.

Row 4 (wrong side): Knit 2, purl 4, knit 2.

Row 5 (right side): Knit 2, purl 4, knit 2.

Row 6 (wrong side): Purl 2, knit 4, purl 2.

Row 7 (right side): Knit 3, purl 4, knit 1.

Row 8 (wrong side): Purl 1, knit 4, purl 3.

Row 9 (right side): Knit 4, purl 4.

Row 10 (wrong side): Knit 4, purl 4.

Row 11 (right side): Purl 1, knit 4, purl 3.

Row 12 (wrong side): Knit 3, purl 4, knit 1.

Row 13 (right side): Purl 2, knit 4, purl 2.

Row 14 (wrong side): Knit 2, purl 4, knit 2.

Row 32 (wrong side): Purl 3, knit 4, purl 1.

How to make the edging:

You will cast on 102 stitches and then knit rows 1 to 5.

How to make the blanket body:

Rows 1 to 32: Knit 3, work the chevron stitch pattern for 12 times to the last 3 stitches and then make knit 3.

Repeat the rows 1 to 32 twice more and the repeat the rows 1 to 18 once more.

Make the end edging by knitting rows 1 to 5.

Finish by weaving in the ends and trim the excess yarn. Blocking is not necessary for this blanket.
