The Power of Real Love
Baby, I was thinking, maybe we could get away for the weekend. I think a trip to the mountains will do us good.â Blake was always thinking of ways for us to spend quality time together. I wasnât used to somebody caring for me just because. He made it hard for me to love him. I wasnât sure how to love him back. I always said the wrong things or overreacted to small stuff, but he stayed right there. I wasnât sure if it was out of pity or because he was used to the lifestyle I afforded him. His eighteen thousand a year salary was no match for the monies I had stacked away and what I made with the supper club.
Oh man the club. I was pulling in five figures a month with that businessâ¦and the business I had going on the side. My granny taught me well and I had me a hustle behind the legitimate business. The only thing is since the ladies were back in my life; I was having a hard time operating. Beauty and Widow was at war over me.
For instance, Widow sold some soft pack powder to a major rapper that brought his entourage thru once a month. They needed a quaint little getaway to enjoy the night life without the rabid crowd. Well that and the fact that on one of the nights when Blake isnât here this place smelled like a bar in Amsterdam. So they picked my joint because they would be able to buy and fry all in one whop.
âWidow! Hey baby girl what it do?â I gave out different names to people when I felt like being coy. He only knew me as Widow. I could get away with this because he rarely dealt with anyone but me.
âItâs all good baby! Whatâll you have tonight?â I already knew the answer. He got the special and the âspecialâ. I signal Mert, a waitress who had been with me since we opened and was in both businesses with me. She gave a nod, and went to work on his order. I journeyed back to the office to attend to a wine order and finish filing some receipts. I stand to go out and mingle with my customers and check the mirror. My hair has these purple colored streaks compliments of Berry, so I put it in a French braid to appear more lady like and tamed. I wipe off the black lipstick and put on a light blush colored gloss.
âThere. I must chat with widow about the extreme makeovers.â I say to myself as I exit my office. I walk behind the bar and touch the bartender and tell him to make sure he is using the house wine unless requested. I see the bus boy struggling and I walk over to give him a hand. Just as I am clearing table number 4, I see these hip hoppers self medicating themselves on my table. I storm over to their table with fumes coming out of my ears.
