Meka hurried to the door.

Dyce.

“Hey what’s up?

Meka led them into the kitchen where she poured them both a glass of wine.

“Do you know we have a new resident?”

“Yeah I heard.”

“Girl- The Shire is getting interesting,” Dyce beamed.

“Oh my god, you’re practically glowing. You do realize that you’re still married,” Meka reminded her.

“Of course, how can I forget, Dyce wiggled her finger sporting her huge wedding band.

Laughing Meka shook her head.

“Well what is your take on our new neighbor?”

“She’s really cool and I love riding on her bike.”

Meka decided to switch the conversation. “Have you seen Anton lately?”

“Not since the party. Frank has been home all week so seeing him isn’t conducive to my schedule right now.”

“You know, with you being so young and Frank having all that money, I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to talk you into having kids.”

Dyce recoiled as if she’d been slapped.

“Oh hell no girl, I’m not trying to be anyone’s mama. I am way too young and pretty—.” She stopped mid-sentence as a loud shriek came from outside. Quickly Meka and Dyce ran to the front door.
