CHAPTER 16

Ariane was in such a good sleep that it took her a minute to realize that the doorbell she kept hearing was real and not part of the dream she was currently enjoying. Finally opening her eyes, she quickly jumped out of bed, dressed in a pink cami and short set by Victoria’s Secret and slid on her slippers. Swiftly walking down the hallway unaware of how long the person had been ringing, she made it to the door in mere seconds. “Just a minute,” she called out not wanting the person to leave before she was able to answer the door. “Who is it?” she called out once again.

“Delivery,” the man on the other side of the door replied.

Ariane looked through the peephole unsure if he was at the right address. When she saw a short and burly, not so handsome white man holding a single long stemmed white rose and a white card. I know he didn’t, she thought to herself, realizing that this must be one of Sin’s stunts. But the way he had avoided her after they had sex, she was through with him. Not that she felt stupid for having sex with him because she didn’t, it was because she had tricked herself into believing that he was different. Ariane was angry with herself more than she was at him, after all she knew better. She had only been calling him as of late to return the Range Rover he had left her in possession of. Wanting to make sure she was right about it being him she asked the delivery man who it was from. Her suspicions were confirmed by his answer.

“A Mr. Yasin Kennedy,” he said reading the card.

Ariane shook her head, Predictable, she thought. Typical nigga shit. All his ‘that ain’t me ma’ shit, fuck outta here. She wanted to open the door and tell the man where he could stick that rose, but decided against it as he was just the messenger. Opening the door, the gentleman handed her the white rose and the card and offered a smile, she half-heartedly returned the gesture. The card simply read: I’m sorry…here’s to new beginnings. She found the gesture no way near suitable, and she had a message of her own she wanted to give the delivery man to return with. But before she could say anything her mouth dropped as the man stepped aside and she saw a sea of white roses and close to 10 delivery men marching up her steps, each holding what looked to be 50 roses in their hands. She held the door open in amazement as each man made multiple trips in and out of her house until her living room was half filled with roses. When they were finished, she closed her front door, leaned her back against it, staring at the floral shop that now sat in her living room. The roses where beautiful, but in typical Ariane fashion she had to find something to say.
