Chapter Twenty-Two

Misty

With my foot busy tapping against the floor, I continue to sit and wait in the doctor’s consulting room. I patiently wait for the person who is going to confirm I am indeed pregnant. Even though I have seen the little pregnancy test with the prominent positive symbol, something is telling me, I still need to speak with this doctor. With one bottle of water empty and less than half of the water remaining in the second, I hope whatever test the doctor requires, happens soon. My bladder is feeling full and uncomfortable.

Oh Gods, jumping when I notice a stranger starting to sit down in the office chair. With my mind busy, I did not hear the doctor walk in and close the door behind him. Geez, what the hell. Is this guy trying to kill me with a heart attack?

Within seconds, my eyes take in his appearance, dressed in the usual white doctor’s coat, fair short hair cut in a buzz cut at the back, square jaw and by the looks of him, muscle build and at least four inches over six foot. This stranger sitting opposite me has mesmerising eyes of green. As I look into his mysterious eyes, I search them — I need to know if I know this man, and what type of shifter is he?

With a smile, the man starts to speak in a strong firm voice. “Good afternoon, Misty. It is good to see you all grown up and conscious. I am pleased you had taken my advice arriving without Braven.”

Hmm. So the good doctor knows me from a child, good to know that something Braven mentioned is true.

“Afternoon Doctor. As you have guessed, I am here for much-needed answers. Since you mentioned it, you knew me as a child. Tell me as much as you can from my childhood, because I do not remember anything before the age of eight. I understand I left this area at the age of what... six? What can you tell me?”

With a lift of his eyebrow, I can see him busy thinking.

“I will start off by saying; I will only be using your current name. No one will know from me, who you really are. I had been in shock to learn of the accident claiming to have killed you and your parents all those years ago. As I was the treating doctor to Braven, somehow I knew, you had not been killed — you had to be still alive. Because the bond the two of you shared, would have killed him if you really had died.”

My eyes open wide and a gasp leaves my lips. Dead. Braven could have died too if I had really been killed in an accident.

“Because I still had a sample of your blood, I secretly had it tested under a different name of course. I had to know why you and your parents had taken off and staged your deaths. I came to the conclusion it had to do with you, and it was something dire.
