Kell leaned against his truck, phone to his ear while Boone waited beside him. He’d been waiting for the call, hoped it would’ve come sooner.

“Stay where you are, Cliff. I’ll come and get you.”

“Can’t make any promises, Kell. A couple men and a woman have been following me. I don’t know if they’re here in Laramie, but can’t be sure.” Cliff knew Kell would understand. He wasn’t in Laramie, but at a town real close.

Checking his watch, Kell glanced around at the sense someone watched him. “I’ll leave within the hour. Should take me no more than eleven hours. I’ll be there by midnight. Are you on a burner?”

“Yeah. I’ll be trashing this one after our call. You?”

“I’ll pick up a couple within the next few minutes. Don’t trash yours until I call you with my new number. Cliff, don’t take any chances. You have cash?”

“I’m set.”

“I’ll call you when I’m a few hours away.”

“Sounds good. I should have an address to give you by then.” The call ended without Kell having a chance to answer.

Other than keeping watch around them, Boone hadn’t moved from his spot by the truck. “I’ll go with you.”

“You have to keep things up at the ranch. I’ll take Zane. We’ll pick up Cliff and be back here by tomorrow afternoon.”

“I’ll buy burners for me, Thorn, and Del. You’ll have three ways to reach us if you need help. And you damn well better use them if you require backup.”
