CHAPTER 11

They sat in silence, both deep in thought. Jill went over the words he spoke in her head, and what he said surprisingly rang true. She did go off the handle without really hearing what was being said. Her head rested on his chest as a thought came to her. Pulling away, she looked up at him. “Why are you not throwing a fit about what is happening now?”

“Who says I’m not inside my head?” Slade replied with a frown. “I know more about demons than I’ve ever wanted to know. Give me a rogue vampire any day, but I’ve been learning more from Charger and Jake. Logan and Ruger are right. They will not stop. No matter how far I take you away, it’s not going to stop. Duncan has been doing a lot of research, and the demon activity spiked when Daniel was born. We didn’t know it then, though Charger said they noticed it around that same time frame of his birth. None of us knew about Daniel, and yet, the demons felt a shift the day he was born. Their time is limited. That makes them very dangerous.”

“I can do this, Slade,” Jill whispered, leaning back against his chest. “I’m not just saying that to prove anything. But what if I fail.”

“You won’t.” Slade kissed the top of her head. “And Jill, never doubt my love for you. No matter what we go through, know I love you more than my life. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”

“I know,” Jill replied, then smiled against his chest. “And I love you even if you are older than dirt.”

“Watch it.” He warned with a grin. “Now stay up here while I clean up my mess.”

Jill watched him head for the closet with the broom and dustpan. “How do you think my meeting with Sloan is going to go?”

“Let’s just say I’ll be waiting outside the office for you.” Slade swept the floor, and she could tell he was smiling.

“Can’t say I blame you.” Jill snorted with a shrug. “I’m actually a little nervous about it.”

Slade walked over with a dustpan of glass. Opening the garbage, he dumped it in and then looked at her. “Just keep your cool, and it will work out.”

Jill rolled her eyes and then looked back at Slade, who was still standing there with the broom and dustpan. “You know you look pretty sexy as a male maid.” She wiggled her eyebrows. “How about losing the shirt and sweeping the kitchen for me?”

Cocking his eyebrow, his gaze shifted from her face roaming down her body. “Take off that robe so I can fuck you on that counter.”

Jill’s body heated instantly, and her pussy immediately became wet. Just his words could send her into an orgasm. The way his tone changed from normal to dominant in the blink of an eye had her squirming on the counter.

“That wasn’t a suggestion.” He frowned, leaning the broom against a chair and dropping the dustpan on the floor.
