Chapter 11: Julani

Five days had gone by and I still refused to leave out of the house. I just didn’t feel like dealing with anyone. I was supposed to be on this path of self-righteousness, but I somehow ended up getting caught up in Messiah’s bullshit once again. I couldn’t even blame him this time because this was all me. I allowed the love I still had for him to bring me back down the path I was trying to avoid. I was happy he was back at home. I hoped and prayed that he was no longer doing drugs, but I couldn’t worry about that anymore. The whole time he was gone, my mind was going crazy not knowing that he was okay. I couldn’t do that anymore.

Then I had Cree who has done nothing but been there for me, yet I still pushed him away. I felt like shit for the way I talked to him the day he told me Messiah was doing drugs. I didn’t mean to spazz on him, but at the same time, I felt like he had an ulterior motive. I felt as though he was trying to throw Messiah’s fucks ups in my face so that he could look like the right choice. Or maybe I was just trying to sabotage what me and him could possibly have. Being with Messiah would be easy because I already knew what to expect from him; Cree was new and different. I knew Cree, but at the same time, I didn’t. Cree was a mystery and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to solve it or not.

“Julani, I need you to get the hell out of this house. You have not left this house in the past five days and I’m tired of seeing you mope around this bitch as if your life is over,” my father barked, barging into my room.

“You could have at least knocked or something. You’re invading my privacy,” I complained.

“You don’t have no privacy when you live under my roof.”

“Well thanks for letting me know.” I rolled my eyes at him and got out of bed. I attempted to walk out the room, but he blocked my path. I looked up at him with questioning eyes. In all my years, I have never seen my father act like this.

“Sit down, Julani.”

“I’m trying to get out the house like you just told me to do.”

“I didn’t ask for a smart ass remark, I told you to go sit down, so sit the fuck down. I have been trying to let you fix the mistakes you have made, but obviously I’m going to have to step in. Now sit the fuck down.”

I pouted, but went and sat my ass back on my bed. I honestly didn’t want to hear anything my father had to say. If he wanted me to fix my mistakes, then he should allow me to do so the way I see fit. Yeah, I messed up a little, but I was still somewhat on the right path.
