Maxi

I was ready to choke slam Niles’ punk ass. Nylah knew it as well. That was why her grip on my hand tightened. I was pissed off at her too. She didn’t tell her brother that she was my mate or that she wasn’t marrying Hector. It was cool, though. I was going to show them better than I could tell them. We were at Xavier’s station waiting for them to pull up.

The rest of our brothers, along with Tyree and Matteo, was waiting as well. I was standing in the corner, trying to collect myself. Nylah walked over to me and grabbed my hand.

“Thank you for staying calm.” She said. “I know my brother can be an ass sometimes, but you have to understand that he is all I have.”

“He is not all you have. Stop saying that stupid shit. You have me and the rest of the people in this room. Only because he is your brother I will try to remain calm, but if you don’t tell him that you are my mate and won’t be marrying Hector, you will regret it, Nylah.” I told her. I thought that she was about to argue with me but she didn’t. She nodded her head and pulled me to the seat next to her.

“I will tell him, Maxwell.” She said and brushed a kiss on my shoulder. Patience walked in with Xavier by her side. My sister looked like a Queen for real. Her whole demeanor spoke royalty. Adding Xavier as her mate made it more real. Xavier walked Lil Bit to the end of the table and pulled her chair out. He gave her a soft kiss, then whispered something in her ear. She gave him that beautiful smile and blushed.

Goals, nigga. That was how I wanted me and Nylah’s relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I made her smile and blushed here and there. I wanted that no doubt love. The love that I knew I didn’t have to question because of our differences. I knew that we were going to have some hard times ahead of us. I just needed to know if she was ready for that. Ready to stand up to her people for me.

The door opened and Errol escorted Nyles and two other vampires in the room with us. Nyles walked over to the table and took the seat that was across from us. Dom and Xavier sat on each side of Lil Bit. Our brothers continued standing around the room. The other two vampires stood behind Niles. Matteo and Tyree stood behind Lil Bit. We stared at Niles and his vampires, waiting for them to start talking.

Nyles cleared his throat and addressed my sister. “Queen,” he started. “I would like to apologize for my behavior.”

“No need. I understand that there is a lot to discuss.” Lil Bit replied. She leaned forward with her elbows on the table. “You tell us what you know, and we will do the same. Do not hold
