The purpose of the model in Fig. 5.1 is to understand the nature of the service delivery process—it is a process that derives its components from:(a) Service organisation itself, the system, service personnel and service users. The functions of a service organisation are numerous of course, but leadership aspects, management procedures, planning and forecasting and organisational processes as well as strategic human resource management are clearly of the utmost importance here. In the existing research literature, the role of strategic agility has been consistently forwarded as a potentially useful mechanism to help redesign service production at the organisational level (e.g. Larsen et al. 2007; Doz and Kosonen 2010).
