It is important to note that although Hong Kong continued to dominate the investment landscape in absolute terms in and beyond this period, as a relative share it was declining. Measured in contractual value, Hong Kong slipped to 60% in this period from a previous 76%, making a very significant 16% point drop. Measured by contract number, the downward trend of Hong Kong’s share was also clear, consistent, and of similar velocity, as is illustrated by Figure IV-4,20 from an average of 85% for the previous period to 75% in this period, and further down to 50% subsequently.
