Seeking and Regaining Clarity

I love writing, reflecting, and praying in the morning. Sitting quietly in my office, I’m able to think clearly while the house slowly awakens and invites in the new day. In this sacred space, decorated and designed specifically for me, I care for myself. I feel renewed and alive.

In the evening, I also anticipate the following day, knowing I will regain clarity and energy that has ebbed as the day draws to a close. I know that in this particular moment I may be tired, but a good night’s sleep will help me regain clarity.

It’s possible that you aren’t able to gain clarity from something as simple as a good night’s sleep. In fact, sleep may be a challenge due to the relationship stress you experience. Nonetheless, you must seek and regain clarity and know what will bring it to you.

We must all seek clarity. Whether it is through a marital separation, some or all of the practices I use, or something as simple as a good night’s sleep, clarity is not something that happens to us, but rather something we cultivate.

If you are intentional about obtaining clarity and renewed energy in your life, it can be yours; but you must be keenly tuned into your life, knowing your needs and attending to them.

It’s Your Health

Having a healthy life ultimately means taking full responsibility for it. As much as I believe in the medical and psychological professions, I know no doctor is going to care for you better than you care for yourself.

It’s your health, and you must ultimately take responsibility for it!

You cannot take responsibility for your relational, emotional, and physical health if you are not awake and alive to your life.

What do I mean by this?

Much has been written about being present in your life. This may seem like an odd topic, but the concept is critical to having a healthy life.

What do I mean by being present in your life? I mean the opposite of finding ways to anesthetize yourself to your current pain. Whether you use any of the destructive coping mechanisms listed earlier, denying your pain, or simply busying yourself, you must come alive. You must attend to your life.

What would you do if a friend approached you in distress? Imagine the following 911 call from your best friend:

Hello. I’m sorry to bother you. I’m in trouble. My husband had another rage reaction scaring us to death. He’s been yelling and threatening me. The kids heard everything. He wouldn’t stop. I grabbed the kids and left. I’m not sure what to do. I really hate to bother you. Can you help?
