However, we don’t have to wait for the next life to experience Shalom. The promise of Jesus is “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

Although the Shalom we receive through this pilgrimage will require sacrifice, it will bring unbridled joy and we will testify with the pilgrim of this psalm:

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
