I was lying in bed at my mom’s house still feeling terrible. I couldn’t stay at Forty’s house. It wasn’t right for him to take care of me. He didn’t have a reason to. Plus, I needed my mom’s opinion on this pregnancy. I knew that she would tell me the truth and not what I wanted to hear. I felt bad because I made Nasia and Raya swear to keep the pregnancy on the low, and I know that Nasia don’t keep secrets from Rio. She had to keep this one. I don’t need him running his mouth to Forty. The second night I was there was when I talked to my mom.

“Mom, I need to talk to you about something.” I said, when she walked in the room to check on me.

“What’s wrong? Is it the baby?” she asked, and I just looked at her. “I can tell baby. I’m your mother, plus my mother been having dreams of fish. I knew it was you. Am I right?”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you tell me that you were seeing someone?”

“I’m not. Him and I have a friends with benefits thing. I like him a little bit, but not that much to be in a relationship with him. I didn’t even tell him that I was pregnant. I was feeling sick, and he took me to the emergency room, but I wouldn’t let him come to the back with me. Then, I made Nasia and Raya swear to not say anything. I think I should get an abortion.”

“Woah. Now that is serious. God has a plan for that baby, and if you get an abortion, you are ruining his plans. I’m your mother so I know you inside and out. You cannot sit here and lie to me. I know that you like him more than a little bit. What’s really holding you back?”

“I want to focus on work. I want to build my career then try out a relationship. What if I was to just jump in a relationship with someone and blow off work? Then say that we break up; that’s going to be me shit out of luck. I just don’t know, Ma. Then, this thing with that dude Randal. He was released from jail. What if he sees me and tries me again? This time I might not be so lucky. Then, I don’t want to add that burden on to someone else. I don’t want to be pregnant and stressed the hell out. Mom, I am just confused as ever about everything especially Randal.”

“I think you need to move because he knows where you live. That will help somewhat. You need to tell this young man that you are pregnant. That’s not right to not include him in whatever decision you make. Even though I feel you should keep the baby. God planned this for a reason. He must have a great plan for you and that baby.”

“I heard you the first time mom.”

“Okay. So when are you going to call that young man?”

“Soon, Ma.
