Chapter 19: Eva
Good morning baby. I have breakfast ready before you go to the office,” I kissed Dennis on his back as he brushed his teeth. Having my husband back to normal was everything to me. I went back in the kitchen to fix our plates so we could eat breakfast together. After I made our homemade orange juice, he walked in fixing his tie. I admired him, and as a mother, I really needed my two men to get it together. Dennis wanted to hand the family business down to Brandon but Brandon was being stubborn as a bull. He still hadn’t confirmed dinner with his father and I was going to pay him a visit today after I left the spa.
“I’m going to talk to Brandon today,” I told Dennis.
“I don’t know what else to do Eva, I’m trying everything to be the man I’m supposed to be. I know I should have done it earlier, but now I’m ready. He won’t even talk to me. Maybe you can talk some sense into him.”
“I’m going to try.”
We finished breakfast and seen each other off as we headed in two different directions. When I got to the stoplight, I placed my shades on my face and let the visor down from the sun beaming in my eyes. The spa was pumping this morning and that’s what I like to see; God had truly blessed me when it came to my businesses. It was because of Dennis I was able to open the spas and provide for my son.
“Good morning Mrs. Auger,” my receptionist said smiling.
“Good morning. How are you this morning?”
“I’m good, no complaints this way. You’re looking good this morning,” she complimented me.
“Why thank you,” I said looking through the schedule for today.
“Looks like the girls are busy today. Have there been any problems that I need to handle while I’m here?”
“Not that I’m aware of.”
I walked to my office but detoured to go and talk to some of the girls. I didn’t stop by often but when I did, I liked to be hands on with them. I wanted a business that was family oriented. I made sure they were paid very well so no one would have to go out and get second jobs. I supplied hefty Christmas bonuses and they had off every weekend and holiday.
“Hey ladies,” I greeted my last two girls I hired who were massaging what appeared to be a husband and wife. “I was checking in today. Everything going good?” I asked my girls.
“Yes ma’am,” they said in unison.
“Good! I’ll be here until lunch if you need me,” I said before closing the door. I walked into my office and sat in my big leather chair. I picked up my office phone to call Brandon but forgot he may be at work. I sent him a text instead letting him know I would be over after he got off.
“Mrs. Auger?” I looked up from my phone to see the thorn in my flesh.
