Worship the Lion of Judah.

Why is Jesus called the Lion of the tribe of Judah? Have you ever wondered that? Well, I’m going to tell you why.

In Genesis 49:8–12 we learn Judah was called the never-ending kingdom. Jacob blessed Judah and declared all would fall down and worship him. This is a prophecy of who Jesus would become. King David was also from Judah’s bloodline. That is why the Scriptures tell us the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever (1 Kings 2:45). Judah means “praise and thankfulness.” So, Jesus is the Lion of the worshippers, and He expects to be worshipped.

Look at how John the Revelator describes Jesus in Revelation 5:4–5:

I wept and wept and wept that no one was found able to open the scroll, able to read it. One of the Elders said, “Don’t weep. Look—the Lion from Tribe Judah, the Root of David’s Tree, has conquered. He can open the scroll, can rip through the seven seals.”

The scroll is the title deed to earth, and God the Father was holding it. Who was worthy to open it? No one, so John wept! But in truth, the Lion of the tribe of Judah was able to open it because He had prevailed in His mission. He is the One worthy to receive our worship!
