As we two dogs watch, the tiny lamb begins to wriggle about. Her long, thin legs tangle as she struggles upward. After a tumble or two back onto the soft grass, she’s finally up, standing on her own little hooves. Bits of dried grass and clover stick to the lamb’s wet wool. Clover, I think, would be a good name for this lamb.

Clover takes a few awkward steps toward the ewe. She ducks under her mama and begins feeding. She fills up with the warm milk her little body needs to grow strong. Like her mama, Clover knows instinctively what to do. This tells me this lamb is strong and healthy.
