I couldn’t seem to stop staring at her. She was enchanting. With the orange sun just setting behind her shoulders. Causing the gold glints in her to blaze like golden tinsel. Her cheeks were flushed with blood, and a lovely bright pink.

Her flesh gleamed like the inside of an abalone shell, and she smelled amazing. There was a streak of flour on the corner of her cheek, and her hair was curling all around her pretty face.

She was also in jeans. Which was a shock. But not an unpleasant one. She didn’t look at all like the witch I knew she was. But I liked the curves of her body. She was far more voluptuous than I’d expected her to be and I liked it. A lot.

She jiggled her basket. “Where could I set this?” she asked, voice tight and pinched and I cleared my throat.

I should probably stop ogling and be more professional, but the truth was that seeing her here after two nights of doing nothing but dreaming of her as I’d padded restlessly through my woods was like waking up from a long, dark dream. I wanted to reach for her. Hold her.

My wolf was so overjoyed that I felt a whine trapped in my throat. My desire to further know her hadn’t weakened in the slightest if anything it’d only grown worse.

“Sure, yes. Follow me,” I said softly, before taking the basket from Generva's lax grip.

She looked unsure at first, but soon shrugged and nodded her thanks, following me back toward the lot I’d cleared out not that long ago. I’d been manic these past two days, and I’d channeled all of that energy into setting up for the pack’s imminent arrival.

When we got to the clearing, I stepped to the side.

She gasped the moment she saw what I’d done and immediately stopped walking. I couldn’t help the warm feeling of pride that surged through me at how she looked right now. Eyes scanning the trees, the landscaping, and everything in between.

I’d gone for a fall harvest theme. And had strung up literally three thousand fairy lights through the tops of the spindly tree branches. I’d bought damn near all the pumpkins from the local patch and had set them throughout. Carving a few into images that reminded me of home. But mostly there were pictures of large moons. For some bloody reason when I thought of home now, I thought of this place and its strange blue moon hanging ever constant in the sky.

I’d even had time to saw and sand two large buffet style tables from some rough-hewn wood I’d recently chopped down. I’d been working on the benches for a few weeks, but I’d really stepped up my game this weekend to finish them.

So full of manic, frantic energy that I’d needed to find something to do with my hands. For some strange reason, my palms were sweaty and my pulse beating a mile a minute, as though I’d been running for hours.
