Reasons Why Social Media Is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me

I got my first email address when I was fifteen: my rap name plus my birthday at aol.com. I used email on a regular basis for the first time when I entered college and got my first .edu address. I graduated from college before I joined Myspace, and I was working my first full-time job with benefits before I joined Facebook. Three years after Twitter started, I begrudgingly set up an account after a friend spent hours convincing me I needed to do it. A few years ago, I joined Instagram, because who doesn’t want to filter their pictures and pretend for a small moment they are an awesome photographer?

Social media has come such a long way from the AOL days. No one has to endure the weird screech of the modem dialing up. No one has to wait for a CD-ROM to arrive in the mail before they can access the web. No one has to be chained to their desktop to check their email.
