I shouldn't have left her alone. I shouldn’t let her go off by herself. If only we had left before sundown, this wouldn't have happened!

"Amigo!" Another tenor voice called. "We kind of need your help here."

Jack turned around, finally surveying his surroundings. Two men dressed in loose fitting clothes, outdated breathing masks, and old goggles, shot at ten glitches filling up the street.

Jack checked his clip, twelve in the chamber. Rage filled his every thought.

When I get a hold of the fuckers who took my wife, their lives will be forfeit.

He raised his gun and fired. Taking out all ten silver-eyed glitches with three rounds still left in the chamber.

He turned that smoking gun to the two strange men.

"Who the fuck are you?” He aimed at the smaller one's head.

"Whoa, whoa there, man. We aren't your enemies." The bigger one said.

"I don't know who the fuck you are, but you better start talking."

The smaller one with faded orange goggles, slowly put his weapon on the ground, urging the bigger man to do the same. They eased back up to a standing position, hands raised.

"I'm El." The small one pointed to himself. "And this is Pedro." El threw a thumb behind him to point at the larger man. "We were passing through when we heard screams. We thought we could help."

"So, you're not with those guys?" Jack flicked his gun.

"The rogues? God no." Pedro huffed. "I'd rather become a glitch then get caught with them."

Jack didn't lower his gun. He had never heard of the term rogue before. His eyes bounced from one man to the next.

"You don't know, huh man?" Pedro glanced at El.

Jack tightened his grip.

El stepped forward. "We're not trying to hurt you. And judging by your fancy protective suit and standard issued..." El gestured to Jack's face and gun. ".... everything, that you're not from around here. So, you don't know where the rogues have gone."

"But we do," Pedro said.

"Where?" Jack calmly brushed a finger on the trigger.

"They set up camp by the old Winterland," Pedro said.

Jack clenched his jaw, his trigger finger ready to pull. Instead, he holstered it and began walking down the blood-soaked street.

El called, "You're not possibly going there by yourself, are you?"

Jack heard the scrap of guns being picked up off the street. They didn’t seem like the type to shoot, but his hand stayed on the hilt just in case.

Boots picked up behind him.

"Amigo, that camp has super soldiers and you don't appear to be a super, but the way you just took out ten glitches, you might just be a soldier." Pedro said his breathing was heavy as he walked.

"I'm neither." Jack bent over and scooped up his wife's backpack from the side of the street.

"I think the best thing you can do is to stay out of that camp," El said.

"And let them take my wife!" Jack barked, his voice laced with desperation.

The couple exchanged a knowing glance, their eyes filled with empathy.

"Look man, I know how you feel. If someone took El, I would do 'bout anything to get 'em back.
