Chapter Twelve
ALARIC stretched out on the bed, shifting so his head was closer to the edge. He laid his head on top of his hands. Greg was close to the bed, and he wanted to fuss over his injury again. When he bathed him, Alaric found the wound closed and well on its way to healing, but he longed to check.
However, Greg was in the middle of dressing and was concentrating. Previous disruptions made his mortal lover grumble at him, so Alaric struggled to give him the space he needed.
âAre you sure you donât want help?â
âItâs a boot. I can manage boots.â Greg huffed and finished pushing his foot into the new boot. âSee, got it.â
âCan you get up?â Alaric asked.
âThe pants arenât that tight.â Greg pushed himself off the floor and took a few steps away from the bed.
With a slow turn, Greg showed off the new outfit. While Alaric had picked out shades of black for his own clothes, he tried to find colorful clothing for Greg, but somehow they werenât quite colorful until Greg put them on. Dark brown leather pants fit him like a second skin. The shirt was a cream color and billowed until the cuffs bound the cloth at his wrists. His short sleeveless tunic matched his pants but lacked the embellishments any lord would demand. He plucked the emerald-green cape off the foot of the bed and swept it around his shoulders. With a smirk, he fastened it, and the heavy fabric curtained over his torso to his hips.
âWell?â Greg asked as he made another slow spin. He cocked an eyebrow.
His smile was infectious and confident. Since their first round of sex, Greg smiled nearly constantly. The insecurities that had clouded over him time and time again were gone. He was cocky. Gorgeous.
Clean-shaven, dressed in the garb of a well-off commoner, and smirking at Alaric, Greg was irresistible. Even trapped against the bed, Alaricâs cock thickened.
âOh, I think thatâll do for now,â he replied.
âFor now, huh?â Greg came over to the bed, and Alaric rolled onto his back. Seizing his chance, Greg straddled Alaric and leaned down to kiss him but lingered instead. âWait, do the clothes count as a gift? Do I owe you?â
A slight hiccup Alaric had thought about while at market. Alaric took Gregâs collar between his fingers and rubbed it. âI can keep your clothes in trade for the time being. Perhaps youâll find something to give me.â
âWorks for me.â Greg kissed him.
Getting him out of the new clothing was easier than watching him put it all on, if nothing else because Alaric got to run his hands over Greg and find new places to make him shudder and moan. Greg teased in return, discovering how much Alaric enjoyed kisses to his inner arm above the elbow. They took care in dropping his clothing at the end of the bed, but soon Greg was naked.
A knock on the door interrupted their enthusiastic kissing. Alaric groaned when the knocking came a second time.
