Chapter Ten

Indra slept better than she had in years, curled up in her bed, surrounded by her blankets. Dylan had left a few hours earlier to check on his father and meet with the Royal Guard to assess the situation at hand. When Indra awoke, she could see the rays of light shining down from the surface of the water beating against her window. She rolled over in bed and smiled, thinking about the night before.

As those memories fluttered through her head, she reminded herself that she didn't have time to daydream, that there was real danger coming that she needed to prepare for. There was a knock at the door, and she wrapped a blanket around herself and made her way across the room to answer it.

"Good morning, beautiful," Hurley said. "My father is feeling better than he was, at least. He wants to speak with us."

Indra nodded, dropping the blanket on the floor, walking with him down the hallway. Bo and Hurley were waiting for them by the wall of water. Bo tossed his bag into the other side and jumped through, turning into his Shark. He swam through the loops and hooked it onto his back. "I have clothes in here for you. I figured you might want them when speaking to the King."

Indra shifted into her Dolphin and rubbed up against Bo. "Thank you."

She couldn't explain it, but there was a peacefulness in her that she had never felt before. It was as if fear couldn't pierce her heart. She swam along in silence, but it was a comfortable silence. When they reached Hurley's father's room, she shifted into her human form, still beneath the water, but wrapped herself in the robe that Bo had brought. Hurley and Bo did the same, and they entered the room quietly.

The King lay on an enormous bed, covered with a blanket, propped halfway up. His cheeks were rosy again, and the sand and blood had been cleaned from his hair. He looked up at the four of them, and a small smile pulled at the corner of his lips. He had the same beautiful eyes that Dylan had. He put his arms up and waved them forward. "Please, come in. I'm so glad to get to speak to you now that the danger has passed."

Dylan stood on one side of the bed, Indra on the other, and Bo and Hurley stood at the foot. Indra smiled at the king. "How are you feeling?"

He nodded. "Much better than I did, thanks to the swiftness of my son getting me back here, and the work of the healer. It was definitely unlike anything I had felt before. But I'm better now, and I'll continue to get better. It's important to me that I grow stronger as fast as I possibly can. I received a foretelling of what is to come for the castle on the cliffs. I want to enlist the guardsmen to help with the battle."

Indra shook her head. "You should stay here and get better.
