Joel

Joel allowed the wolf to fall back into his being as he neared his Prime’s house. The pain was sharp and cruel as his muscles ripped and tore, his bones snapped, but then it was gone. His vision snapped back from its enhanced stage until he could no longer discern each fiber growing off the stems of the hardier plant life bloomed and unfurled around the residential property. His vision was still magnified ten-fold over a regular human’s sight, but the wolf’s eyes were sharper.

He felt his stomach growl and gnaw at him from the inside out as the smell of sugar, chocolate, and barbeque crawled up his nose. Mixed into that was a healthy dose of his little Locke’s sugar-cookie scent. Reign had linked them all to tell them to meet at Daire’s house after six. He was a little early, but it did not matter to him. It gave him more time with his Locke.

Just thinking about her smiling face had his manhood begging to be buried in her warm heat. He knew that once he had had her, he would want to be in her for the rest of his life. She was perfection personified. Her long hair and slender frame made a man feel bigger and stronger than he ever could alone. Her wide eyes practically begged him to protect her and care for her. And her feet…Hells, but he loved dainty feet on a woman.

He clenched his jaw so tightly that his molars ground together. He needed to think straight. As much as the Suppressants had helped them all to cope and give Adeline the time and space she needed, they could not fully remove or displace their lusts for her nor hers for them. It helped when he was not drenched in the scent of her arousal and slick, but it was a fine line to walk. It also did not cut away his lustful imaginings of his future with his Locke.

“Damn it, Reign! Get your hand out of that bowl!” The exclamation from the petite beauty inside was swiftly followed by the solid crack of wood on skin. Judging by the splintering sound and the accompanying yelp, he had to guess that Addie had hit his Brother hard.

“I just wanted to taste it. Please, little one?” Reign pleaded as Joel pulled his jeans up over his hips.

“I’ll grab the skillet next if you don’t get out of this kitchen,” she snarled back. There was instant laughter from two other females. Tabitha and Maggie.

“I would suggest listening to her, boy. It is in my experience that if a woman is cooking, it is her territory. Invade at your own risk.” Tabitha was snickering, all-too pleased with herself.

“But she is…”

“Listen to him, Hart,” Addie warned in a deceptively calm tone. The closer he grew to the house, the clearer her scent became. He could now pick up her agitation and humor threaded into the sweet base tones. “Tabby’s got decades on you. Take her sage advice before you end up on your back.
