CHAPTER FOUR:MIND

A couple of months pass by. Sasha and I are at my house watching television and chatting. I’ve been actively dating and starting to feel like myself again. I never heard from Brad again. I see him on Facebook but we don’t say anything to one another. At first, I did stalk his page a little but now I just stay away from it. Looking at his Facebook won’t help me in my quest if I’m trying to forget about him. All it does is make me think of the short time we spent together and wish he would just call me. But he doesn’t of course, and actually I’m over it at this point. At least that’s what I’m telling myself these days.

“Girl, did you see the picture Brad uploaded today?” ask Sasha.

My veins begin to tense up in my forehead and I give her the evil stare. I pause and take a long time to respond because I know she knows damn well I saw his picture.

We are still friends on Facebook, of course I saw it.

“Yes, Sasha. I saw it,” I say with a callous tone.

“What’s wrong, my friend? You’re not still hung up on dude are you?”

“No, I am not, Sasha.”

“Good, I know initially I was all team Brad, but dude keeps fucking up big time. You definitely should let it go and move on if you haven’t already. Sweep that water underneath the bridge once and for all. I don’t mean to be harsh but you know I’m going to tell you what’s real. Maybe he’s just wasn’t that into you and that’s okay. Definitely his loss, not yours and you deserve better anyway. You deserve someone to be into you just as much as you’re into him. You have men standing in line waiting for an opportunity to be with you. You’re smarter than this. You’re absolutely stunning. If I was into girls, I would definitely tap that ass. Luckily for you, I’m not. You have an Angelina Jolie kind of thing going on with a twist of Michelle Obama. As weird as a combination that may sound, it’s alluring with a bit of conservativeness. Yeah, I would definitely hit that. Let it go, friend.”

“Who says I haven’t already? And thanks for wanting to tap your best friend’s ass. I’ll make sure not to undress in front of you.”

“I say you haven’t, that’s who. I know you Kell, I mentioned his name and the look on your face told it all. That’s the only reason I said something because you refuse to but I know deep down inside it still bothers you. So I’ll say this one more time, let go and move on my friend.”

“My mind knows that Sasha but tell that to my heart.”

“You don’t owe him anything. Not even your heart, move on. I will keep saying it till it sticks in that brain of yours, and hopefully the same message find its way to your heart.

“I know I don’t owe him anything but don’t I owe love everything.
