Chapter Ten
Wait?
Andrew blew out an unsteady breath and curled his fingers in his palms to stop himself from reaching for her again. âWhy are we waiting?â
It was hard to tell in the dim light, but Rachelâs cheeks seemed to flush. âI need to change.â
He lifted a brow. âChange...your clothes?â
She nodded.
âWhy?â he asked, sincerely baffled.
âBecause I bought new lingerie,â she finally admitted.
âSo youâre not putting on the brakes? You havenât changed your mind about this...you just want to put on different underwear?â
The color in her cheeks deepened. âIt sounds ridiculous when you say it like that, but yes.â
It was ridiculous, but he didnât figure saying so would result in her getting naked any quicker. It was also flattering, that sheâd bought something special in anticipation of this event. But after his extended period of celibacy, the prospect of seeing her naked was far more arousing than anything she might put on her body. âDonât you realize that it doesnât matter what youâre wearing because my end goal is to take it off you?â
âBut I want to look sexy when youâre taking it off me.â
He stroked her hair away from her face. âYou are sexy. So incredibly and undeniably sexy. And while Iâm flattered that you bought new lingerie in anticipation of showing it to me, Iâm much more interested in your naked body than anything made of satin or lace that would only cover it up.â
âMaybe it was leather with buckles and chains.â
His brows lifted. âWas it?â
âNo,â she admitted.
âOkay, then,â he said, and pried her fingers from the blouse that she was clutching in front of her like a shield.
He slid the garment down her arms and let it fall to the floor. The bra she wore was white, but it wasnât boring. He knew enough about womenâs lingerie to recognize it as a demi-cup bra, and he appreciated the contrast of the snowy satin against her creamy flesh. Even more, he appreciated that the center clasp hidden beneath a tiny bow was easily released.
He dropped the bra on top of her already-discarded blouse and focused his attention on the mouthwatering sight of her naked breasts. More than three years without physical intimacy seemed to have given him a whole new appreciation for the uniqueness of the female body. Or maybe it was the uniqueness of Rachelâs body that so completely captivated him.
Heâd been married for five years, but even prior to that, heâd never been with anyone but Nina. So while he might have plenty of experience with sex, that experience had all been with the same woman. Being with someone differentâwith Rachelâwas like the first time all over again. His heart was pounding and everything inside of him was shaking with excitement and anticipation and terror. He wanted her so desperately that he couldnât help worrying he would forget patience and finesse, that he might do something wrong and screw everything up.
His gaze skimmed over her, assessing, admiring. âIncredibly and undeniably sexy,â he said again.
The way he looked at herâthe unrestrained desire she could see in his eyesâmade Rachel feel sexy.
