Chapter Seven

In the morning, Clay woke Jacob with a hand on his cock. He nuzzled Jacob’s neck and massaged his dick until Jacob groaned into the pillow and came. Then he stroked Jacob’s neck as the man slid down the bed and guided Clay into his mouth. Jacob’s eyelashes fluttered as he took Clay into his throat and he hummed lightly, sending vibrations along Clay’s shaft. When Clay pulsed, Jacob swallowed, then rested his head against Clay’s stomach.

They didn’t say much as they rose and dressed, though Clay read carefully concealed concern behind the cheerfulness in Jacob’s eyes. They kissed around their morning breath and Clay promised to call so Jacob wouldn’t have to set an alarm. Jacob’s smile turned strained at the joke.

Upstairs, Clay changed into fresh clothes and readied himself quickly because Danica was already waiting, the glance she gave him when he strode through the door full of judgment and annoyance.

“The least you could have done was bring your phone,” she muttered as he shoved his toothbrush back into his bag.

“Where you off to?” he asked as he approached.

Jacob settled himself against the car with a glance at Danica striding across the parking lot. “There’s another curtain about a half hour outside of town I got a tip on. I’m going to go check it out. It’s brand new, I think, so whatever born-again is there will be suffering from rebirth disorientation. I’m figuring it can be one of my short and quick contest hunts where whoever gets there first gets a guest post.”

“Keeping the fans happy,” said Clay as he leaned on the car next to Jacob. It was another rental, cheaper considering Jacob didn’t have BAH backing and had to pay out of pocket.

Jacob chuckled softly. “Whatever’s there will likely be closed up and drained before the born-again has a chance to realize what’s going on. So, it’s keeping the town happy too.”

“Huh.”

Clay’s gaze dropped to the chain settled on Jacob’s collarbone. He was wearing a pale blue buttoned shirt that tapered at his waist. The collar folded out instead of tightening at his neck, leaving the very top of his chest exposed. Clay wanted to lean in
