CHAPTER 12

Echo and Kiandra arrived at Room 608 of the Pitnam Hotel in Tampa, Florida.

Amber Gehring invited them inside her suite and offered seats on leather sofas. She said, “I thank you guys so much for getting our girls back. What you did means so much more to me than the extra money my husband is paying.”

Echo said, “I was hoping you would say that.”

Kiandra jumped in because she thought Echo was moving too fast. “Have you gotten the hotel recordings to Mr. Granite’s lawyer yet?”

“Yes. I met with Mr. Richter maybe seven hours ago. The recording was even mentioned on the local news. The judge scheduled a hearing for tomorrow morning. The lawyer expects the charges to be dismissed.”

Echo said, “Mrs. Gehring, why were you cheating on your husband in the first place?”

She hadn’t expected such a question, so she didn’t really know how to answer it. “What do you mean? I thought Avery was a nice guy, and it just came to that over a period of time.”

Echo shook his head. “That’s not it. Was he the first black guy you ever fucked around with?”

She didn’t want to answer that one. “I don’t understand your point.”

Echo sat up then leaned forward. “What would a black guy have to do to get you to cheat on your husband?”

Amber thought about that. “Let me ask you a question, just to make sure I’m not reading this wrong. Are you coming on to me?”

He said, “I can’t think of a part of you that I wouldn’t lick or suck.”

Amber looked at Kiandra for a hint of disapproval.

Kiandra said, “Neither can I. We can all go at it until check-out time.”

Amber took a deep breath. “Wow.” She didn’t know what else to say.

Kiandra said, “You ever been with a woman before?”

Amber smiled. “Yes, I’ve hooked up with Tianne a few times.”

“The babysitter’s mom? I wouldn’t have guessed that one,” Kiandra said.

Amber said to Kiandra, “I wanted to experience you the first time I saw you.” She looked at Echo. “You, too, of course. You look entirely too sexy and handsome for your line of work.”

Echo said, “Can’t you say all of this while you get undressed?”

She smiled. “Maybe we shouldn’t. I mean, I’d love to see the girls first, spend some time with them.”

Kiandra said, “I’m sure you’ve talked to them on the phone since your husband told you they were back.”

“Yes, I have.”

Echo got up and approached Amber. “Stand up.”

She did, wearing a white pants suit.

He put his mouth over her lips and clutched her ass cheeks.

When she hugged Echo and began slipping her tongue in his mouth, Kiandra stood and said, “Let’s get out of these damn clothes.”

Amber pulled her face back from Echo and said, “My husband’s gonna soon leave me. He told me he was. On top of all that, Avery’s gonna do something else to try to hurt me. I just know it.”

Echo said, “We got those kids back safely, but our job is not done until we’re confident that he won’t come after another child as long as he lives.
