Jesus never preached or promised a luxurious time in this life. This life is about refining our souls for salvation. The very act of refining is uncomfortable.

The gospel calls us to pick up our cross and follow Christ. This symbolic calling paints a picture of struggle and pain. Christ had to allow His physical body, His flesh, to die for the greater cause of Christ.

We too must also crucify our flesh, which is extremely uncomfortable, for the glory of God.

We must be vigilant and careful not to let the flesh’s anti-bodies candy coat God’s gospel the way they coat a virus to protect itself.
