Once reaching the west, the narrative progresses on the ceiling, which is arranged in two longitudinal partitions (Fig. 119).24 On the south partition, from the east to the west, we see the vignette of Chapter 109, showing the solar disk rising from the turquoise trees. A young bull representing the sun comes forth, carrying the star Sirius, an allusion to the dawn at the summer solstice. The scene is completed with the effigy of Re-Horakhti-Atum (cf. West wall). In the following scene, Sennedjem is depicted in adoration before underworld deities (Chapter 112). Next, a vignette shows Sennedjem before a cosmological scene featuring a snake, perhaps Sa Ta (meaning the “Son of the Earth”) twisted over the horizon, and a mummiform god seated under the sky (Chapter 126). This partition is concluded with Sennedjem in adoration before a triad headed by the god Thoth (Chapter 116).25

From the east to the west, the North partition is decorated with the tree goddess Nut feeding Sennedjem and his wife featured on their own tomb (Chapters 59). In the following vignette, Sennedjem and his wife adore a group of five gods depicted against the nightly sky, showing seven stars and the solar disk, an allusion to the Imperishable Stars and the nightly form of the sun (Chapter 135).26

There follows another allusion to the nightly journey of the sun: the solar barque carrying the Benu bird, and the god Re-Horakhty-Atum (Chapters 100, 133). The Great Ennead escorts the sun god, here used instead of the shemsu-sign, meaning “Followers”.
