On another occasion, a different troop of Girl Scouts was spending an evening in the Armstrong cabin telling stories. They kept hearing strange tapping sounds. The Scout leaders looked everywhere for the source of the noise but could not find it. The noise continued intermittently until they left. Other staff members have reported hearing mumbling in the basement of the church and walking through sudden cold spots in the building, even on warm days.

Some of these happenings could possibly be explained by coincidence, tiredness and luck. The Deacon may have been created by the historically inspired imagination of dedicated volunteers and workers who labored to restore the site and open the museum. Then again, gravity does not reverse itself. A ladder pushed past the tipping point should fall. Perhaps the Deacon emerged from his grave to help restore and protect his beloved church. If you want to learn the truth for yourself, pay a visit to the Depreciation Lands Museum. And, who knows, maybe the Deacon will find you.
