Ecto-Mist

Do I believe in ghosts? No, but I am afraid of them.

Marie Anne du Deffand (1697–1780)

“Ectoplasm” was a well-known term used at the turn of the century. It was used originally to describe a mysterious opaque substance that materialized from spirit mediums during a séance. More recently, the words ectoplasm or “ecto-mist” are now associated with ghost hunting and paranormal research. They are used to describe the vaporous mists that show up in ghost-hunting photographs. Now believed to be the second stage of ghostly manifestation (orbs being the first), these ethereal mists have been photographed in many places all over the world.

As with any unexplained phenomena, there are always the skeptics who, either out of ignorance or fear of the unknown, step forward to debunk these unique paranormal phenomena. When it shows up in photographs, there are skeptics who dismiss it as smoke, fog, the photographer’s breath, moisture, or even automobile exhaust. These all fall prey to skeptical analysis. But since most ecto-mist is not seen by the photographer’s naked eye at the time the picture was taken, we must rely on the credibility and integrity of the photographer. First of all, any serious researcher or investigator will take every precaution to prevent natural occurrences from being in the area. A serious researcher would never smoke or exhale in cold weather while taking pictures during an investigation. They would also refrain from taking pictures in the rain or around campfires and bonfires, in fact anywhere smoke could travel or form swirling mists.

Ecto-mist is a ghost at a particular stage of manifestation. As the condensed energy in orb form is released, it begins to swirl, spread, and separate. Ghosts, as well as spirits, begin to appear as smoky semitranslucent mists. These ethereal mists of ectoplasm do not normally show a recognizable shape due to the lack of electromagnetic energy needed for full materialization.

In order for ectoplasm to materialize into a full-bodied ghost or apparition there needs to be an adequate energy supply. Ghosts pull this energy from many sources such as batteries, power lines, electrical outlets, and appliances, as well as the human electrical system. That’s us!

Ecto-mist has been photographed in many colors with varying degrees of white and gray as the most prominent. However, many peculiar mists have been caught on film in extraordinary colors of red, green, blue, indigo, and black.

Ecto-mist may appear as a thick fog or as a wispy, fine mist floating effortlessly in the wind. These mists are always around us at some stage of materialization. We are unable to see them because of the difference in our vibrational frequencies.

Our very essence is a frequency vibration, so it stands to reason that ghosts who have survived death can and do resonate to us as they manifest their own unique energies. Although ecto-mist is a uniquely mysterious phenomenon, it does have consciousness as well as a desire to communicate.

Energy in the form of ecto-mist is capable of expressing extraordinary shapes. The vibrational rate creates and enhances the density of ecto-mist.
