Chapter 7
Benny
Benny had taken a cab following behind the car that had picked up Angel’s grandfather. When they arrived at the hospital, he knew they had to be going to see Pam. Benny sat outside and saw the girls stop to speak with a female. Once she had exited the hospital, Benny approached the woman.
“Excuse me, do you know my friends well that you were speaking with?” Benny hoped that the female would give him some information although she looked nervous.
“Yes. I use to work with Divine and Maya at a club.” Benny knew by the way she was dressed that it had to be Sarah’s club she was speaking of.
“Oh, so you use to work for my Aunt Sarah?” Benny asked. He knew that would get the female to talk.
“Your Madame Sarah’s nephew? I’m so sorry about what happened to her and everyone that was inside the club. She will truly be missed. I just finished visiting with Ronnie. She’s doing much better.” Star remarked.
“Yes my aunt will truly be missed. What is Ronnie doing here? I didn’t know she was in the hospital?” Benny asked curiously.
“She was shot today. She went through surgery but she’s doing well now. She’s still feeling some pain but she’s alive.” Star replied.
“Oh shit. I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info. I guess I’m going to be visiting two people today and one is my family.” Benny tried to make himself look believable so that the woman didn’t feel too uncomfortable with sharing information.
“I apologize that you had to hear that from me. I was just about to head home. I had a long day. Again, I’m sorry for your loss. I know Ronnie will feel much better knowing that her cousin and her best friend will be up to see her tonight.” Star mentioned. Benny knew that she was talking about Angel. He didn’t know if he should try and catch Angel while visiting Ronnie being that she was probably going to visit her mother right after. He was just going to keep a low profile and watch their next move.
“Thank you. Get home safe and thanks again.” Benny walked off without waiting for a response from Star. Once Angel and the rest of the girls were out of sight, Bennie asked for Ronnie’s room at the front desk. He was given the information and decided that he would just post up and wait before going in to see Ronnie. He didn’t want to intrude on their visit and besides, he didn’t know what to say to Ronnie not knowing what kind of position she was in.
When Benny saw Angel leave Ronnie’s room, he stood and walked out of the waiting area and headed for Ronnie’s room. Benny was nervous and didn’t know if Ronnie would even talk to him but he had to try. She was his family after all and he was desperate at this point.
Ronnie was surprised to see Benny walk through her room door. She thought the next person she would see would be a nurse or even Angel coming back.
