I woke up in the hospital with a banging ass headache and every bone in my body ached. I looked around the cold hospital room and nobody was in here but me. I was a little confused at first about how the hell I managed to be lying there in this predicament, but when a slight pain shot up through my abdomen, I remembered that Levi was the reason for my being there. I just couldn’t for the life of me understand how he could tell me that he loves me, yet he turns around and does something as crazy as this. I remember the look in his eyes as he kicked me in my stomach; it was like he was possessed or some shit because his eyes were no longer that light brown color that they normally were. Instead, they were dark and filled with evil. I’m honestly surprised that I’m alive because I just remembered seeing so much blood on the floor.

“Ms. Roberts, it’s so nice of you to join us,” a middle aged, black woman said as she walked into my room.

I looked over at her name tag and I noticed that it said Britney. She and I looked to be the exact same age, but clearly, we were living two completely different lifestyles. There used to be a time when I would turn my nose up at any female with a job because of the mindset that I had, which was, all of these get money niggas out here and you want to work? I always thought that having a nigga with money was like me in way winning the lottery because I was lucky enough to snag a nigga who could take care of me and now I didn’t have to work, but look where that mindset had landed me! In a damn hospital bed, and the man who claimed to love me was nowhere to be found.

“I felt so stupid for fucking around on Seth because I knew Seth would never do some fucked up shit like this to me. Seth was a hardcore man, who dished out plenty of threats to pump fear into my heart but he would never act on his threats because laying your hands on a female is like the most cowardly thing that you can do.

“Join us? How long was I out?” I asked in confusion. I was under the impression that I had just come in yesterday and that I had just woken up.

“You’ve been in here for a week now, love,” she told me as she walked over with a clipboard in her hands.

A week? How is that even possible? Looking around the room, especially at the couch that was over in the corner, it looked to be untouched. Like, maybe it looked that way before I even came in here, which led me to believe that nobody had come in here to see me.

“Did anybody come in here while I was asleep?” I asked her, praying that she would say yes, even though I pretty much knew the answer already.
