How do you imagine new life?

When I read The Secret and The Power by Rhonda Byrne, I fully understood the concept of connecting visualization to feelings. When you imagine something and connect with how it feels when it comes to pass, you’re in a better frame of mind to receive it. It’s not that it was an easy task, but I practiced all the time, visualizing my goals achieved and connecting with how it would feel when they came to pass. This exercise kept me in a positive mental state and I remained hopeful. However, I also learned that when I thought of what I didn’t want, that came to pass too. Like when I was writing this book, there were days when I felt stuck. All I could think about was being stuck, then thinking about the deadline, and then feeling stuck all over again. My emotions were negative and my thoughts matched.

Think about the goals established in the Lean Into the Process step. Visualize them coming to pass and connect with how it feels. Imagine getting that promotion. What does your new office look like? Who’s the boss now—is it you? What about going out on that fancy date? What are you wearing, and where is your date taking you? Can you see it? Can you feel it? Are you smiling? Practice doing this often. Practice so much that it is routine. When I set the goal to go to India, I imagined not only what it would look like, but also how it smelled and how the weather felt. Use all of your senses when you imagine a new life.

A few of my clients worked on this step through the use of vision boards. Staci, one of my coaching clients, created her board to help manifest many things. Two of her big desires were to move out of the country and to obtain her degree in business administration. She and her husband moved out of the country shortly after she developed her vision board, and she recently graduated with her degree. Staci kept her board where she could see it daily. She stated she believed her desires were coming, and so she set goals to help her manifest her desires. Once Mechelle’s purpose was established, she was driven to make a vision board with her theme—ENGAGE. She described never forgetting the moment when she made it. She used a bright yellow piece of construction paper with a US map filled with people, and in bright bold letters it read, “Make the workplace cool again.” She placed the board in her office on the side of a bookcase that faced her desk. She looked at her vision board every day and was grateful that her life’s purpose was being fulfilled. And finally, Blanche used her vision board creatively by putting prayers next to it. She was looking for ways to bring about extra income. She looked at her board daily and visualized increased income. Before long, Blanche manifested a part-time job.
